The Bachelor of Science in Construction Management prepares students for a broad range of professional careers within the construction industry, including residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, as well as infrastructure and heavy construction. The program’s curriculum is organized into three core areas of construction materials and methods, business administration, and construction management, and is presented from the perspective of the construction manager. Students gain an understanding of the technical and scientific knowledge of building materials and the relationship between individual components, building assemblies and structural systems. In addition, they explore building science and sustainable construction principles and practices, with a focus on hands-on learning through authentic projects and experiential learning. Students also explore business and project management topics with an emphasis on the development of leadership qualities, including communication, teamwork, and adaptability, which are essential for professional success in construction. Beyond the foundational academic curriculum, students perform authentic, skill-building exercises in all areas of the program, including project scheduling, project estimating, and administrative management, as well as building structures, performing assembly experiments and analysis. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to make a seamless transition into management roles within the construction industry, equipped with the capabilities to effectively coordinate the activities of trade partners, oversee day-to-day site operations, and ensure successful project delivery at a professional level.
