The Mechanical Engineering Program prepares students for professional careers in the design, development, and manufacture of mechanical systems in a wide variety of industries. The program includes a multi-semester design sequence within which students work in teams applying theories learned in the classroom to solve complex problems and transform concepts into designs and functional prototypes that they build and operate. The program provides a strong foundation in electro-mechanical systems, programming and control systems, robotics and machine vision, thermo-fluid systems, and advanced materials. Within the design sequence, students from all engineering disciplines work together, designing solutions for internal and local community partners. Students also have the opportunity to be involved in engineering clubs and organizations, such as student chapters of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
